Plan B: Project
Overview
When a student's interests do not lend themselves to the Master's Thesis format requiring original research, the student may choose to complete a Master's Project. The Master's Project is not a shortcut to graduation and requires demonstrated mastery of practical skills or applied knowledge.
Students who choose a Plan B (Project) must secure the commitment of one permanent Environmental Studies faculty member to serve as the student’s project chair. The project chair and the graduate program coordinator must approve the student’s project for the master’s degree no later than one month prior to the end of the semester preceding the one in which enrollment in the final project course(s) is planned.
The Master’s Project will undergo a thorough review and revision process under the guidance of the graduate advisor with the assistance of the graduate program coordinator. Once the graduate advisor and the graduate program coordinator have reviewed and accepted a candidate's written project, the student must publicly present their project.
